New trial date for man, 35, facing charges

- Court reporter

A Calderwood man is to stand trial accused of threatening behaviour towards his former partner.

Scott Hayward allegedly caused the woman fear and alarm by repeatedly calling her and her family members and making offensive remarks about her.

It is claimed the 35-year-old also called her colleagues and showed up at her workplace, continually followed her and tried to seize hold of her mobile phone.

Hayward is also accused of repeatedly sending her messages and images via social media and threatening to harm himself; repeatedly loitering at East Kilbride railway station, making offensive remarks towards her and attempting to get in her car.

He is also charged with repeatedly acting in a threatening and abusive manner towards her and her family members.

The offences allegedly took place at MacKenzie Gardens, Stewartfield, Zurich Insurance, Glasgow, East Kilbride railway station, Torrance Road, Hairmyres railway station and elsewhere on various occasions between July 15 and December 28 last year.

Hayward, of Abercromby Crescent, denies the charges. He was expected to stand trial last month but has been given a fresh trial date of April 24.

Hayward will appear for an interim hearing on March 29.

Bail was allowed for Hayward in the meantime.
