Newflats aregiven sealof approval
The green light has been given for 28 new flats in upmarket Thorntonhall.
An application from CALA Management Ltd and John Henderson was approved at a meeting of South Lanarkshire Council’s planning committee.
Two blocks of 14 flats will be built on Peel Road in a change to a previous application of 24 flats and three detached houses which was never determined.
The application covers an area to the south and southwestern portion of an existing site at the end of Osborne Crescent, Thorntonhall which the applicants are currently developing.
A report to councillors read: “The new application removes the three houses and proposes 28 flatted dwelling houses.”
Nine letters of objection were submitted with concerns raised over an increase in traffic, noise and road safety through nearby Baron Court.
There were also complaints over CALA being allowed to significantly increase the population density in the area and the possible loss of tree life and natural habitats.
