Claremont enjoy a cracking day out

- Edith Findlay

Claremont Rambling Club members were pleasantly surprised with the amenable weather they enjoyed for their outing in the Callander/ Strathyre area.

The scheduled excursion to Callander Crags had to be pulled for safety reasons – this was due to the adverse weather experienced previously along with local information.

The long walkers easily dealt with the nine miles from Strathyre to Callander.

Meanwhile, the alternative group marked up seven-to-eight miles with an in and out from Callander.

A morning coffee stop was arranged at Dobbies, Stirling and with the social hour members were spoilt for choice in Callander as they reflected on a great day’s walking.

The next walk will be this Sunday with the destination being Comrie-Glen Lednock.

The next club meeting is on Tuesday, March 27 in the usual venue of Claremont Church small hall at 7.30pm.

Alistair Dinsmor will be the speaker on this occasion with the subject being the history of the Glasgow police.

Individuals wishing to join either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
