Three and easy for Amateurs

-

East Kilbride Thistle Amateurs avenged an early-season loss to Glasgow South by ambushing the title challengers in a 3-0 win at Ballerup.

The Strathclyde Saturday Morning League Premier Division outfit needed a victory to take them to the top of the standings.

But Thistle were at their very best as they recorded a sparkling sixth league success of the campaign – as Glasgow South dropped to third place in the table.

Thistle created the best chances early on with Steven Oates and Cammy Smith both going close.

The early pressure paid off as Smith put his injury problems behind him to chest the ball and finish on the half volley inside the box.

Thistle got stronger and stronger as they knocked the ball around and never let the visitors into the game.

However, it took until midway through the second half for them to double the lead.

Sean Cullen latched onto a through ball and coolly slotted it past the keeper.

Jordan Brown then rounded off what was Thistle’s best performance of the season with a calm penalty into the bottom corner of the net.

Thistle have now won six out of six home league games. However, that impressive record will be put to the test this weekend when they host reigning league champions Tynecastle.
