Road closed for resurfacing
Lickprivick repairs will last for week
Resurfacing work is set to be carried out on a problem stretch of road which has been driving motorists round the bend.
A section of Lickprivick Road in Greenhills will be closed between April 9 and 13 for much-needed repairs.
Residents and local politicians have long complained about the condition of the road with potholes aplenty.
Frustrated driver Robert McNicol said: “This is a main road along with access to local schools, shops, doctor surgeries and the local community library.
“Temporary repairs have taken place but these only last for a short period time and as a result, the road is littered with stones and debris from broken infill.
“Our local government is wasting cash here with several small repairs when permanent long-term solutions and repairs should be put in place.”
A campaign by East Kilbride mum, Joanne Moffat, from Whitehills, waging war on potholes in the town and across the country has also recently been launched.
There have also been a number of complaints regarding resurfacing work on Lindsayfield Road, as well as Stewartfield Drive, which failed within a matter of weeks.
South Lanarkshire Council admitted there had been an issue with the microasphalt material used and that repairs will be carried out by the specialist contractor who carried out the original works in the coming months at no additional cost to the council.
I am pleased that the council have agreed to take action
