Disgust for timber thieves

-

Dear Editor,

I’m sure readers of the News last week were disgusted to read about the thieves who stole some 30 large timber sleepers (Timber stolen was for dementia garden, March 28).

These were earmarked for a new dementia garden within Calderglen Country Park, which will be run in conjunction with local carers and Alzheimer’s Scotland

Several individuals have been working hard for some time to bring this initiative to fruition, without these scumbags stealing some of the muchneeded materials.

With dementia numbers increasing we need to support initiatives like this to help provide much-needed stimulation to those sufferers of this illness, and their families.

So, what can we do to help catch these thieves who stole the sleepers using an HGV-type vehicle?

If anyone has any information about this vehicle and the lowlife involved they should contact Police Scotland directly, or they can also contact myself in confidence on 07748114555.

Let the people of East Kilbride show their support for this project by spreading this message far and wide using email, Facebook and discussing this within workplaces to see if we can assist the police in catching these individuals and returning the materials.
