Warm welcome in Ayrshire

-

It was all change for Claremont Rambling Club recently.

For the group’s destination of Pitmedden Forest in Fife had to be pulled because there were problems accommodating two walks.

Instead, members embarked on a route from West Kilbride to Largs.

For the long walk, this equated to nine miles while the alternative walk started at the same place but finished 6.5 miles later at Hunterston House Estate where the bus was parked ahead of the journey to Largs.

The weather was fine but towards the end of the alternative walk the walkers were disappointed to get some rain showers.

Unfortunately views were limited because of clouds and Arran was, therefore, not visible.

Members were pleasantly surprised when stopping for morning coffee at the Morrisons in Saltcoats when they each received a banana, a Mars bar and a bottle of water courtesy of their store.

The social hour was taken in the very welcoming and hospitable Ye Olde Anchor Inn, Largs.

Not on the hills this time but, nevertheless, a great day’s walking.

The next scheduled walk will be on Sunday, May 6 from Penicuik to Lasswade.

Individuals wishing to join in either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
