New president installed

wThe AGM marked the end of the 2017/18 session for Kilbryde Burns Club.

John Mitchell stepped down as president with John Haining beginning his two-year tenure in the role.

Patricia Leslie and Philip Brown will continue as secretary and treasurer respective­ly. There were no changes to the committee.

After the business of the evening and a break for tea, the company were entertaine­d with a DVD on the life of Robert Burns provided by Mr Mitchell.

The evening was brought to a close in the usual manner by the company standing to sing ‘Auld Lang’s Syne’.

The 2017/18 session will conclude with an already sold-out spring outing in early May.

This year’s outing will visit Mauchline, East Ayrshire and the Robert Burns birthplace museum in Alloway, South Ayrshire.

Thereafter, Kilbryde members and friends will visit the Brig O’Doon Hotel for the evening meal followed by entertainm­ent which will be provided by the club’s members.

Everyone connected with the club is looking forward to the spring outing and then the summer break – before meeting again for the 2018/19 session on the first Monday in October.
