Stained glass in the frame

Mem­bers of Strathaven In­ner Wheel Club en­joyed a talk on stained glass dur­ing their lat­est meet­ing.

Pres­i­dent Joan Dun­can chaired the fo­rum at the Strathaven Ho­tel as she in­tro­duced guest speaker Jennifer Pater­son.

Ms Pater­son spoke about her work with stained glass which is a hobby she had taken up in re­tire­ment.

She started by out­lin­ing the his­tory of stained glass and its man­u­fac­ture from the sev­enth cen­tury up un­til the present time.

And she then demon­strated, step by step, how stained glass arte­facts are made to­day – show­ing the au­di­ence the tools and ma­te­ri­als which are needed.

Ms Pater­son rounded off her demon­stra­tion by dis­play­ing a num­ber of beau­ti­ful pieces which she her­self had made and which were much ad­mired by the au­di­ence.

At the end of the talk, pro­gramme con­vener Wendy Gil­mour thanked Ms Pater­son for agree­ing to speak.
