Claremont enjoy sunshine stroll Ayrshire excursion gets the thumbs up

- Edith Findlay

From sunny Montrose on the Angus coast to sunny South Ayrshire.

Claremont Rambling Club members were most fortunate to have, once again, great weather for their scheduled walk at Changue Plantation, Barr.

The long walk was a circular, ever-ascending 10 miles with the alternative group starting along with the long walkers but then keeping to a lower level and walking to time.

The hedgerows and trees were just starting to show their spring colours and against the beautiful sunny blue sky, members were fortunate to bask in the delightful warm weather.

The morning stop was at the recently refurbished Dowhill Farm restaurant and the social hour was taken in various watering holes in Ayr.

It was another great day’s walking in good weather with like-minded companions.

The next scheduled walk will be this Sunday with the destination being the Bier Law Circular in the Scottish Borders.

The next club meeting is on Tuesday, May 22 in the usual venue of Claremont Church’s small hall at 7.30pm.

Speaking on this occasion will be Sylvia Smith, who will be talking about ‘Miss Cranston’s Tea Room Empire’.

Individuals wishing to join in either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
