Abusive thug locked up for 25 months

- Court reporter

A thug who admitted a catalogue of physical and emotional abuse against his ex-partner has been locked up for 25 months.

Christopher Fabiani, formerly of East Kilbride, previously pled guilty to subjecting the woman to violence, threats and insults during the course of a “volatile” three-year relationship.

The 34-year-old, now of Burns Court, Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire admitted assaulting her at their then home in Loch Shin in St Leonards and elsewhere on various occasions between 2008 and 2010.

He also admitted offences against two subsequent partners while living in Milngavie and Kirkintilloch between 2011 and 2017.

During a previous hearing at Hamilton Sheriff Court, prosecutor Michael McIntosh described how Fabiani’s behaviour changed towards the first victim after she fell pregnant.

She found out he had been cheating on her and when she confronted him, he threw a clothes horse and toys at her.

The 29-year-old was holding their baby, who was just two months old, but this didn’t stop Fabiani thumping her on the back in what his ex described as a “frenzied” attack.

The court also heard of Fabiani’s violence towards a 32-year-old woman whom he began a relationship with in 2009.

When she was eight months pregnant he pushed her to the ground during a row.

She suffered pain and bleeding and was kept in hospital for two nights.

The Crown accepted Fabiani’s not guilty plea to a charge of assaulting a third partner, a 22-year-old woman, in 2016, but he admitted threatening or abusive behaviour towards her.

He accused her of being unfaithful and ordered her to “get rid of ” the baby she was expecting – then bombarded her with text messages when they split up.
