A sex offender who admitted abusing two young girls at a house in East Kilbride was spared jail.

Cameron Matthews, 20, admitted carrying out a sexual act on the girls, aged between five and eight, between May 2013 and June 2014.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, his advocate said he had pleaded guilty, had no previous convictions and has not offended since, but recognised they were serious offences.

Sheriff Marie Smart gave Matthews a three-year community payback order which includes supervision. He will be on the sex offenders register for three years.
