From brilliant balloonmodelling and unicorn face-paints to beat the goalie and hook-a-duck, Auldhouse Primary’s family fun day had something for everyone.
The small rural school’s annual summer fair raised hundreds of pounds – with people from all over East Kilbride turning out to support the event.
Highlights of the day included a bouncy castle, pre-loved children’s goods and popular plant and tombola stalls, plus fantastic games and competitions for all ages.
The high temperatures meant the Thorntonhall ice cream stall 070618auldhouse_02 was one of the busiest of the day and hungry fair-goers were also treated to hot dogs and homemade crepes, plus luxury coffee from Roast Den.
Pupils from Duncanrig Secondary, who are staging The Addams Family from Tuesday, June 19 to Thursday, June 21, performed some of the musical numbers from the show to entertain visitors.
Christine Smith, chairperson of organisers Auldhouse Primary Parent Council, said: “Our summer fair was a great success, and we managed to dodge the thunder and showers too.
“We’re delighted so many of our friends and neighbours came along to support us – it was a great day.”
She added: “We’re very grateful to all the local businesses who supported our event, including Morrison’s Lindsayfield, Greenside Nursery, Lidl, Homebase and Sainsbury’s.”
Auldhouse Primary head teacher Eleanor Connon agreed: “We are really proud to be at the heart of our community and we’re grateful that so many of our neighbours, from Pauline and The Lost Lamb team to everyone at the Old Parish and Westwoodhill churches, got involved to help us out.
“The parent council worked really hard to bring it all together, and we all had a fantastic day.” 070618auldhouse_10
