Intrepid Claremont ramblers don’t get bogged down

- Edith Findlay

The scheduled walk for Claremont Rambling Club’s last venture in June had to be adjusted.

A long walk, the Weem Hill Circular, was planned.

However, because the moorland section of the route was very wet – in a dry period – when the recce was done, it was deemed that this would be extremely boggy with the rain experienced recently.

For safety reasons, the long walk was pulled and all members, easily, completed an eight-mile River Tay Walk from Aberfeldy to Kenmore.

The weather was kind with no rain and the walk was very peaceful and picturesque, with all the participants appreciating the river and rolling countryside.

A morning coffee stop was enjoyed at Dobbies, Perth and the social hour was in the delightful Kenmore Hotel.

The club’s next walk is this Sunday and is from Kingsbarns to St Andrews.

Members are reminded that booking on for the next walk, and every walk, will only be accepted between the Tuesday and Friday prior to the Sunday outing and must be made no later than 4pm on the Friday.

Club nights will begin again on Tuesday, August 28.

Individuals wishing to join either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
