A park full of top sports action and circus fun
Council prepare for exciting calendar dates in August
Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell is a proud host venue for the Glasgow 2018 European Championships in just three weeks’ time – and local people are in for a treat.
The European Rowing and European Triathlon championships are being staged in the park and there’s lots of other activities going as part of the GO LIVE! In the Park free event.
The rowing takes place between August 2 and 5, with the triathlon going on between August 9 and 11.
A n d o n S u n d a y , Au g u s t 1 2 , there is a massive Tri in the Park for amateur triathletes of all ages and abilities.
Even if you don’t have a ticket, y o u c a n wat c h a s s o me o f t he world’s top athletes compete.
For rowing, you can watch from the north end of Strathclyde Loch, and for the triathlon you can watch from the north end of the loch or beside the c ycling and running routes.
And that’s not all. The f ree GO LIVE! In t he Park will see the Clyde Park area transformed
into a circust h e med f u n park for every day of the competition.
There will be clowns, jugglers and roving pe r f o r mers, a r t s a nd crafts, music, dance and comedy as well as the opportunity to experience Scotland’s largest flying trapeze. You can also try your hand at a variety of sports including athletics, football, the climbing wall and rowing. Councillor Michael McPake, c o nv e ner o f i nf r a s t r uc t ure f o r North Lanarkshire Council, said: “This gives local people a great way to share in the excitement and have a fantastic time at Strathclyde Country Park. “S o I would encourage people from Lanarkshire to come and join us.
