Cose encounters of the gigging kind

- Jonathan Geddes

A Lanarkshire funk and soul band are set for a top gig next month – and they’re already targeting bigger stages next year.

Six-piece Facendo Cose have been together less than two years, but they’re booked in for King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on August 24, gracing the same stage that has hosted the likes of Oasis, the Killers and Biffy Clyro over the years. Singer Pete Clarke, who is from Uddingston, is optimistic the gig will push the group, who love the likes of Sam Cooke and Jamiroquai, forward. Pete said: “We are very excited to be performing in

King Tut’s and are feeling confident going into it with the recent form of gigs – we hope that it will open more doors for us.

“We have played in some great venues like Saint Luke’s [in Glasgow], which is an amazing place to perform because of the architecture and location, but this show could be the most significant gig to date, considering it is King Tut’s, given its history with so many big bands and artists who have performed there over the years.

“The past year has been great in terms of support from our close friends and family. They have supported us through every show we have played.

“Over the past few months our following has really grown with other bands’ supporters staying to listen and lots of new fans too.

“We have all been brought up listening to music that was produced way before our time and genres like funk, disco, jazz and soul.

“We see Facendo Cose as a career rather than a hobby. To us, it is very rare to find a young upcoming band to have the sound we have right now.

“We are in the process of writing our first album, which should be completed very soon. We want to be ready and performing for the festival season of 2019.”

The band which comprises of Pete on vocals, Gerry McCusker (drums), Conor Boyle (bass), Mikey Fitzpatrick (piano), Liam Glancy (guitar, backing vocals) and Kev Henderson (lead guitar, piano, backing vocals), took their name from the Italian for “doing things”.

Pete added: “We are always socialising with friends whether it’s going a drive, or sitting in our favourite spots, so we are always ‘doing things’.”

Tickets for the gig on August 24 can be purchased directly from King Tuts, by contacting the band on Facebook @facendocose or emailing them at facendocose@outlook.com.
