EK Young Farmers in winning form
Members excel at West Area sports event
East Kilbride Young Farmers’ Club are celebrating a spot of sporting success.
Members over the last couple of months have been taking part in events to prepare for the West Area sports tournament.
And all that practice clearly paid off as East Kilbride competed against clubs from the four districts of Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Clyde & Central and Dumfries – producing outstanding results.
The netball team were placed first, retaining the netball champions title for another year.
The football and volleyball squads were both finished in second position and the hockey team also went on to be placed jointsecond at Lanarkshire Hockey and will go on to compete at West Hockey.
The club say these are the best results the volleyball and football teams have ever recorded.
EKYFC secretary Mhairi Strang commented: “The club has got involved in all Sporting success sports this year with new members taking part.
“The success is down to the dedication and teamwork that young farmers has taught us.”
Meanwhile, the club has been holding its annual tractor driving competition, which was very competitive.
Now members are looking ahead to East Kilbride Show this Saturday at the National Museum of Rural Life, where they will have a stand with games such as find the needle in the hay stack and beat-the-netballer.
