KILBY’S KEY MEN

-

Craig Malcolm: Striker, 31

Kilby only got four months out of the former Stranraer and Alloa striker last term and he netted eight goals, so if he can get a full campaign this time, you would expect him to deliver at least double.

Malcolm has more than 250 goals to his name at SPFL level and should score goals for fun if he gets a run in the side.

He is good in the air and a much-needed physical presence going forward. Malcolm’s hold up-play is strong and he’ll provide a great foil for the likes of Ross McNeil and Jamie Longworth, whom he had a great partnership with at Stranraer.

Graeme Holmes: Midfielder, 34

Possibly taking over the captain’s armband from Barry Russell, Holmes has 15 years of SPFL experience behind him and will play a crucial role in the middle of the park.

Technically strong, he’ll dictate for Kilby, break up play and launch attacks.

Heralded by fellow squad member Jamie Longworth as one of their best summer signings, he has the instant respect of his team-mates and gaffer Brian Kerr has been impressed by his leadership qualities.

Sean Winter: Midfielder, 30

East Kilbride’s top scorer last season in all competitions with 26 goals, Winter has been Mr Reliable at K-Park.

He has netted 20 or more in each of his three seasons (22, 23 and 26) and that return from midfield is invaluable.

The ex-St ran ra er man should chip in with plenty of goals again, as well as assisting team-mates.

Runs himself into the ground and could easily play at a higher level. His love for the club is admirable and he will be hoping his decision to stick around at his hometown team pays off at the fourth time of asking.

ONE TO WATCH... Liam Craig: Striker, 20

A product of Kilby’s youth academy, the livewire striker has been patiently waiting for his chance these past two seasons.

Scored a cracking goal against a Celtic XI in pre-season and showed some good flashes against Kilmarnock. Looks ready to be unleashed on the Lowland League.

He’ll offer an injection of pace and has a real nose for goal.
