YM sink Vale in friendly

-

East Kilbride YM’s pre-season campaign continued with a win over last season’s Greater Glasgow Premier League champions Newton Vale.

Goals from Cammy McCulloch, Ross McDonagh, Connor McCann and Declan Rennie gave YM’s Caldeonian League side a 4-2 victory in midweek and that will give the side a confidence boost as they edge closer to the league kick-off later this month.

On Saturday YM’s GGPL outfit scored a thumping 7-0 victory over Central Scottish League side Arthurlie Amateurs in Paisley. Ross Anderson notched a hat-trick and Declan Rennie a double, with Josh Cairns and Murray McClure completing the scoring.

YM’s Caley side were also in weekend action, losing 4-2 to Bearsden.

David Cameron scored from the penalty spot in a good first half from YM but a comedy of errors after the break gifted Bearsden three goals.

An own goal, a short pass back and a complete miskick benefited the visitors and, although Connor McCann netted a second YM goal after good play from Anthony Penman, Bearsden netted a fourth near the end to consolidate their victory.

On Saturday both YM sides face friendlies at Hamilton Palace. The Caley side play Barrhead Arkleston at 1pm and the GGPL team play Hillington at the same venue, kick-off 3pm.

There are still tickets left for YM’s sportsman dinner on September 1 with Peter Martin, Willie Young and Jim ‘Buller’ Reid.
