Where and when to avoid the dreaded traffic jams

Road closures affecting East Kilbride and Avondale:

East Kilbride

MURRAY ROAD. Closed between The Murray Square and A726 Queensway to 7pm on Sunday, August 12 for resurfacing work. Diversion via Murrayhill and A726 Queensway.

KENILWORTH. Closed between numbers 13 and 23 and Barrie Road to 5pm on Friday, August 10. Temporary access via Waverley.

WAVERLEY. Closed between numbers 76 and 98 from 7.30am on Monday, August 13 and to 5pm on Friday, August 17 for surfacing works. Temporary access via Kenilworth.

Auldhouse

MEADOWHEAD HIGHWAY. Closed between Meadowhead Farm access and Cladence Highway to Monday, Octobeer 12, 2020 for road safety reasons. Diversion via Cladence Highway, Millwell Road and Ardochrig Road.

Strathaven

LOW KYPE ROAD. Closed between Low Kype Highway and B743 Muirkirk Road to Tuesday, August 14 for Scottish Water water mains upgrading. Diversion via Low Kype Highway, B743 Muirkirk Road and vice versa.

B745 WPL HIGHWAY. Closed between C133 WPL Highway and B743 Muirkirk Road from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday, August 15 for BT works. Alternative route via B745 WPL Highway, A71 Darvel Road, B743 Muirkirk Road and vice versa.

WELLBRAE. Closed at its junction with Kirk Street from Monday, August 20 to Friday, August 24 for SGN works. Alternative route via Kirk Street, Thomson Street, Townhead Street, Common Street and vice versa.

COMMON GREEN. Closed from 12noon to 5pm on Sunday, September 2 for Year of Young People 2018 celebration event.

B743 MUIRKIRK ROAD. Closed between High Dykes Farm and Redding Road from Monday, October 8 to Friday, October 12 for road surfacing works. Alternative route via B743 Muirkirk Road, A70 Muirkirk Road, B743, B7037, A719, A71 Darvel Road, B743 Muirkirk Road and vice versa.

B743 MUIRKIRK ROAD. Closed between Newton Highway and C133 Waterhead Peelhill and Linbank Highway daily between 8.30am and 7pm to Friday, August 17; from Saturday, September 1 to Sunday, October 7 and from Sunday, October 14 to Monday, December 10. This is to allow the delivery of Kype Muir wind turbine components.

A723 COMMERCIAL ROAD. Closed between A723 Hamilton Road and Loudon Street to Wednesday, August 15 – only small sections of the road will be closed at any one time. Alternative route via A72/A724 to Burnbank, High Blantyre Road, Main Street, A725 East Kilbride Expressway/Kingsway, A726 to Strathaven, A723 Commercial Road and vice versa.
