Kerr: We wanted it more

-

Brian Kerr reckons East Kilbride triumphed so convincingly at BSC Glasgow because his side wanted it more.

Kilby travelled to the Indodrill Stadium in Alloa expecting their toughest test of the season so far, but BSC hardly put a glove on the Lowland leaders.

It has put Kilby in pole position at the top of the table with rivals Spartans, Kelty Hearts and East Stirling all dropping points early on.

And Kerr said:“We went with the expectation of a really tough game and we got that from BSC in spells.

“They are a good side, but on the day more of our players turned up and fancied it. There’s a great feeling in the dressing room right now.

“Guys like Sean Winter and Barry Russell, who weren’t playing, were still jumping about daft with the team when we scored. That’s great to see.”

Kerr continued:“It’s a great result for us. Knowing BSC Glasgow and East Stirling were playing each other in the first game and Kelty and Cumbernauld Colts were playing early on as well, something had to give there so it was important for us to make a fast start.

“We’ve done that so far, so if we can get a few more wins together hopefully that can open up a bit of a gap and other teams start worrying about chasing us.”

On Saturday EK host Vale of Leithen, a side they have scored 25 goals against in their last five meetings.

“We just want to get the three points. It doesn’t matter if that’s by one goal or a few goals, as long as we keep our standards up and produce the performances we know we are capable of,”said Kerr.

“We’ve become the scalp that everyone wants, so we have to be ready for that and give our opponents the respect they deserve.”
