Try-outs forPirates’ women’s squad

-

Fancy trying a new sport? Well, the East Kilbride Pirates Women’s contact team are holding free American Football taster sessions next month to find players ahead of the 2018 contact season, starting in November.

Sessions will be held on Wednesday, September 5 and 12 at Riverside Primary School in Govan (635 Govan Road, Glasgow, G51 2AQ).

No experience or equipment is needed and EK Pirates will teach you everything you need to know.

You’ll get the chance to give it a go, meet the players and coaches and have some fun.

Attendees should wear clothes and shoes suitable for running about on 3G (no metal studs or blades) and bring a gum shield.

A change of clothing for afterwards is also advisable in the event of wet weather.

EK Pirates’ women’s team play contact football in the British American Football Association’s Sapphire Series competition from November to April.

They are one of only two organisations in Scotland to offer a women’s only team to play the full contact version of the sport.

If you decide to get involved with the team, practice sessions will be 7pm until 9pm every Wednesday.

Kit (helmet and shoulder pads) can be provided on loan.

Your first three sessions are free, but after that, monthly subs of £20 are payable by standing order and an annual league registration fee of approximately £30 will be required for competition entry.
