School Games pair are a class act
Top gear Two young East Kilbride Road Club cyclists have been selected to represent Scotland at the upcoming School Games in Loughborough.
Fourteen-year-old Morven Yeoman and 13-year-old Imani PereiraJames will be part of a four girl team in Derbyshire, competing in track and road races this weekend.
The event will also see youngsters compete in a number of different sports.
Both girls have had fantastic seasons so far and have added to their growing reputations with Imani taking a silver medal at the recent British Track Championships and Morven winning the overall title at a prestigious stage race in Ireland.
EK coach Guto Williams said:“This is a great honour for both these young riders and it is even more incredible when you consider that they both race at under-14 level and the teams are usually chosen from older girls, normally those at under-16 level.
“It is a real testament to their fitness, ability and dedication.
“They have been at the top of Scottish Cycling, so it’s great they are now competing successfully at a UK level.”
The East Kilbride club have also had their most successful season ever and are the top scoring Scottish club in the UK rankings.
Guto added:“While Imani and Morven are competing very successfully, we have a host of other riders also competing at a very high level.”
The club is still keen to expand and anyone interested in taking their cycling to the next level should contact Gregor Yeoman on 07803 578898. Hard at work Imani PereiraJames in action for EK Road Club
