EK out for revenge in Uni clashes

-

Ross McNeil admits East Kilbride will be desperate to dish out defeats to Stirling and Edinburgh Universities this week.

Kilby took just two points from 12 against the student outfits last season and Stirling derailed their title charge on the final day with a shock victory.

So as EK prepare to host Stirling at K-Park tonight ahead of Saturday’s trip to Edinburgh, McNeil said: “I’m sure the boys in the side who were there last season will be chomping at the bit to be involved this week and get on the pitch to make up for that.

“There will be a bit of extra fire in the belly because they are the two teams that killed our season last year.

“They’ve both had pretty good starts to this season, so I’m sure they’ll make it difficult for us again.

“Stirling Uni are very fit and good going forward. Edinburgh Uni are well organised and will try to hit us on the break like they did last season. “But we will be well prepared.” McNeil took his goals tally to five in all competitions on Saturday when he came off the bench to bag a brace in EK’s 3-0 win away to Whitehill Welfare.

The striker added: “I’m pleased to get the goals. All I can do is hope I’ve done enough work my way into the manager’s plans for this week.”

Tonight’s match at K-Park is a 7.45pm kick-off, while Saturday’s game at Peffermill kicks-off at 3pm.
