I gained the confidence to re-establish my career
Charles Greene has successfully found employment with Disclosure Scotland after being supported by Remploy, the disability employment specialists on the new Fair Start Scotland service.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Charles moved to Scotland to broaden his employment opportunities and prospects.
He has lived in Rutherglen since 2002 and has had a varied work history since moving to Scotland.
Charles, 60, has a background in gardening, building and retail, but his gardening work led to a degenerative back condition which makes it difficult for him to stand or sit for too long.
He said:“My mobility has been heavily affected and my back condition has forced me to resign from previous jobs. I decided to make a start with Remploy on lookout for jobs tailored to his skills. With double the support in place we were confident Charles would find the right job and I am delighted he was successful with Disclosure Scotland.”
Charles said:“The overall support that I have received from joining the Fair Start Service is immense. It has really helped me to maintain a more positive attitude and re-established my working career.” South Lanarkshire Council

As Universal Credit Full Service is rolled out in particular areas, the number of people recorded as being on the Claimant Count is therefore likely to rise.
