Kilby have staying power in race for the title

-

Brian Kerr has saluted East Kilbride’s staying power as they gear up to relaunch their Lowland League title bid.

Kilby are a point behind leaders Spartans but do have a game in hand.

The team were idle at the weekend but return to league duty this Saturday at home to Edusport Academy.

And K-Park boss Kerr believes his players finishing games strongly has been key to their positive start.

He said: “Being one of the favourites, the games are tough. Most of the teams we play are organised and we don’t see them coming at us too much.

“We are having to break teams down a lot of the time but the standard of a lot of the teams and a lot of the players has been very good.

“Most games have been pretty tight for at least 60 minutes but then we’ve managed to overpower them and pull away.

“We’ve got ourselves up there challenging thanks to some good results and now it’s about building on that.”

Kerr, who has new keeper Chris Smith available for Edusport’s visit, says SPFL teams relegated to the Lowland League will find life difficult.

He added: “For any team that comes down, the expectation is that they will bounce back quickly.

“But we know more than anything that all the Scottish leagues are tough to get out of.”
