Special days which have stood the test of time

Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of the East Kilbride News.

It’s easy to get down in the dumps reading the news these days for there seems to be plenty of negative stuff to go around.

But every now and then there is a story or picture which can put a smile on your face.

This week’s centre spread does exactly that – couples from East Kilbride and Avondale celebrating their golden wedding anniversaries.

A special event at South Lanarkshire Council’s headquarters in Hamilton was held for couples from across the region celebrating their 60th year of marriage.

What a fantastic occasion for them and their families – and very much a case of true love standing the test of time.

On behalf of the East Kilbride, we congratulate those golden couples and hope they enjoy many more happy years together.
