Robina keeps raising Robin House funds

-

Robina Wilson is a hard-working member of the Carluke Friends of CHAS group.

She first got involved with CHAS when she read about Robin House being built in her local paper and she hasn’t stopped fundraising since.

There were a few people in her church group who fundraised for Rachel House by selling Christmas cards and upon their retiral, Robina and her friend Margaret and her daughter took over the activities and it’s grown from there.

Robina has a full calendar of events in the lead up to Christmas all over the Lanarkshire area, selling CHAS Christmas cards, crafts and tablet to everyone she meets.

And to date, the Carluke Friends of CHAS has raised a staggering £55,000.

When asked why she has stayed fundraising for CHAS for over 20 years, Robina replied: “Hearing the stories about the families and working with the fundraising team in the Glasgow office keeps us going.

“Their enthusiasm is encouraging and they are so approachable and always grateful for whatever we do.”

Robina has been particularly inspired by the amazing care and support offered to families at Robin House. She went on:“Robin House is such a special place and I’ve been able to see it change over the years.

“I visited recently to attend a speaker workshop and it looks brilliant with the new spaces that have been built.

“The garden is my favourite. It’s just beautiful and such a special place for families to go”.

Robina is proud to be a CHAS speaker, going regularly out into the community to talk about the work of the charity.

And she would encourage others to go out and fundraise particularly in areas outside of Carluke (where they are quite well known) to spread more awareness of CHAS.

Robina said that fundraising for CHAS makes her feel really good about herself, although she doesn’t do it for the‘glory’.

She does it because she enjoys it so much and has had the opportunity to meet so many new people and make new friends.

Recognised for their achievements, Carluke Friends of CHAS were shortlisted for the Voluntary Fundraising Group of theYear 2017 at the Institute of Fundraising.
