There’s plenty going on at popular club
East Kilbride Young Farmers Club has had everyone puzzled recently as part of an array of events and competitions members have taken part in.
They entered The Scottish Association of Young Farmers Bale Art Competition and got together to create an 80s iconic puzzler out of hay in the form of a Rubicks Cube.
This sculpture joined Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall which was the brainchild of Avondale Young Farmers.
Sadly, neither took top spot but both would have no doubt drawn a few double glances from residents and passers-by enjoying a stroll or drive in the country.
Meanwhile, the East Kilbride club chairman, Craig Ferguson, and secretary, Mhairi Strang, competed in Lanarkshire Mr and Miss Young Farmer.
This competition involves an interview with a panel.
The contestants also had to perform a rap in front of a crowd, which was very entertaining.
Mhairi and Craig had tough competition with five clubs taking part.
Mhairi took home first place and was crowned Lanarkshire Miss Young Farmer with Alan Bankier from Carluke Young Farmers being crowned Lanarkshire Mr Young Farmer.
Mhairi will go on to represent East Kilbride at West Area Lanarkshire Mr and Miss Young Farmer.
East Kilbride were also celebrating with the team winning the Lanarkshire Root and Grain handicrafts competition with their bonfire display.
The team were judged on a handmade knitted hat, flask of soup, poster and a flower arrangement.
They were delighted with this result as a lot of work and effort had gone into this.
The club also had a team competing in the first five-a-side girls football competition organised Ice champs by young farmers clubs.
There was also success on the ice when the East Kilbride curling team beat Avondale in the final of the Lanarkshire curling competition and will go on to the national curling competition.
And there is plenty more on offer with the club resuming its concert music practices.
