Glassford WRI in full bloom

The president of Glassford WRI, Janet Foster, welcomed members and guests to their October meeting.

The speaker was Fiona Motion who, in the midst of her beautiful flower arrangemen­ts and gifts, demonstrat­ed how to put together lovely Christmas and other table decoration­s.

The ladies all enjoyed her talk and showed their appreciati­on at the sales table. Sheila Moore gave the vote of thanks.

Competitio­ns and prize winners were: Ladies corsage – 1, Sheila Moore; 2, Rosemary Johnstone; 3, Marion Russell. Bud vase – 1, Alison Brisbane; 2, Liz Morley; 3, Margaret Fleming.

A lovely supper and raffle completed the evening.

Meanwhile, an ‘At Home Evening’ will be held on Thursday, November 8 at 7.30pm in the village hall with entertainm­ent from Elaine Dallas.

Ladies from Chapelton, Gilmourton and Sandford will be the club’s invited guests. An evening buffet meal will be served and there will be a raffle. The cost of the meal will be priced at £12. Why not go along and support and enjoy this lovely annual event in the annual calendar?

Finally, on Thursday, November 22, there will be a half-day outing to McKinnon Mills in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshir­e.
