Triple bill of talent set for Rutherglen venue

- Jonathan Geddes

Lanarkshire’s newest entertainment spot is set to hold another gig night at the start of November.

And three is the magic number for organisers at the No 18 venue, as they’ve booked a trio of top acts to perform at the show. The gig nights have been set up by community station Camglen Radio, and after a successful launch at the end of August the next show’s line-up has been unveiled and features singer/songwriter Rebekah Kirk, from Cambuslang, fellow Cambuslang act Haze and Renfrewshire songstress Zoe Tait. Live gigs are a natural next step for the station, which regularly features emerging acts in session on the airwaves.

Station co-ordinator Tam Curry said: “We want to bring regular live music events to Rutherglen, showcasing fantastic up-andcoming artists.

At each event our aim is to make sure that the performers have a positive experience, are looked after and properly paid – and of course put on a great night for punters.

“We are very proud of our venue, Number 18 - with capacity limited to 100 people it is a very intimate and cosy setting, with a high end sound system to make it the best musical experience possible.”

Rebekah Kirk is a multi awardwinning singer/songwriter who has been honoured with plaudits such as Best Busker in Glasgow, Danny Kyle award winner and also lifted the Jim Diamond award, amongst others.

Haze, aka Hannah Findlay, is fresh from performing at the Merchant City festival and playing at gigs in Provence and Marseille in France after winning the Eurogig Scotland competition earlier this year.

Zoe Tait is a young singer/songwriter from Renfrewshire who is well known at CamGlen Radio and has been making a name for herself by gigging across the central belt of Scotland. She is soon set to tour Germany.

Another gig is already planned for December, and organisers are hoping the shows will become a regular monthly event.

The gig will take place on Friday, November 2 and tickets are available on Eventbrite for £5 and a booking fee.

There will be a limited number available on the night for £7. Doors open at 7.30pm. Entry to the event is strictly 18+ and there will be a licenced bar selling alcohol and nonalcoholic beverages.
