●A man who attacked his ex in Strathaven on the very day a court banned him from seeing her has been sent to prison for seven months.

Pedro Neves, 40, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He admitted attacking the woman at a house in Gateshaw Wynd on August 28 and failing to comply with a bail condition imposed that day.

The court heard Neves headbutted her, knocked her to the floor then kicked her on the head and body.
