Kiwi playgroup tribute There was reaction to the story in last week’s News telling how a special plaque had been unveiled at East Kilbride railway station to mark the contributi­on of the Kiwi pre-school Playgroup who had adopted the facility and helped brighten the place up.

It’s the end of the road for the Kiwi playgroup which has closed and online readers expressed their sadness at the decision.

Susan C McGuire said: “So sad that it was made to close. What a fantastic playgroup with fantastic people. Such a shame to our community now.”

Susan Treanor said: “My two children will always remember Doris Donnelly and Arlette Robinson.

“Great memories and they made friends for life at your wonderful playgroup. Thank you so much. So very sad Kiwi had to close.”

Frances Telfer said: “Kiwi playgroup was a fantastic group. Seeing it go is so sad and a big loss to our community.”

Terrific twins

Twins Emma and Emily McHugh were praised after a specially themed‘ Purple Party’ raised funds for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity – with the duo having recently backed the‘ Plaster it Purple ’campaign.

Jenny Cook, a big fundraiser herself, said: “That’s amazing. Well done!”

Gillian Kirkland, Shirley Mcarthur and Morag Reoch all replied: “Well done girls.”
