YM hit a century of goals

-

East Kilbride YM racked up a century of goals for the season after an 11-0 hammering of Holytown Colts.

Connor McCann and Jordan Fletcher both hit hat-tricks in the thumping victory, which helped them hit 100 goals in just 14 games across all competitions.

It also saw YM notch their 50th league goal of the campaign and puts them six points clear of Dunblane at the top of Caledonian League 1B.

The opening goal arrived in bizarre circumstances as the Holytown keeper took a short goal kick to a defender who, under pressure from Mikey Carroll, knocked the ball back past his keeper and into the net.

McCann then outstripped defenders before squaring the ball across to David Cameron to score the second goal.

Anthony Penman was brought down for a penalty, but Colts keeper Bowman saved Ryan Kelly’s spot kick.

However, the third goal did arrive when Fletcher scored direct from a corner kick.

McCann notched the fourth goal after Carroll’s shot rebounded into his path and then scored a superb fifth with a 20-yard strike.

Carroll claimed the sixth goal following Fletcher’s left wing cross and then Cammy McCulloch imposed himself on the proceedings by volleying home from the edge of the area for number seven.

McCann got his hat trick early in the second half, running through the rearguard without too much difficulty to slot home.

Fletcher then secured his treble, scoring twice from cut backs from McCulloch to take YM’s tally to 10.

And when Carroll was impeded just out side the area, McCulloch fired a terrific free kick into the top corner to complete the rout.

This Saturday YM face formidable opposition in the Scottish Amateur Cup when they travel to face favourites Colville Park.

Meanwhile, YM’s GGPL side returned to winning ways, defeating Dumbarton St Patrick’s 2-1 with goals from Declan Rennie and Jack Ferguson.
