Woman charged after incident

- Andrea Lambrou

A young East Kilbride woman has been charged by police after an ambulance vehicle was smashed up following England’s victory in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Larissa Bell, 21, has been charged with criminal damage and is set to appear in court in London later this month alongside three English men.

The rapid response car was trashed on Borough High Street, near London Bridge train station, after England’s 2-0 win against Sweden in Russia on July 7.

Bell is understood to have been visiting friends in the city over the weekend when she allegedly danced on top of the vehicle.

It had to be taken out of service to be repaired after it was left with a broken windscreen and dents to the bonnet.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Detectives investigating a report of criminal damage after a London Ambulance Service vehicle was damaged in Borough High Street on Saturday, July 7 have charged four people.

“Perry Kangyue Jian, 26, of Poplar, East London; Larissa Bell, 21, of East Kilbride; James Elton, 27, of West Hampstead, north-west London; and Scott Dennett, 25, of Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire were charged with criminal damage via postal requisition. All four had previously been interviewed under caution.”

Police added they are due to appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates’Court in south London.

Fans of Millwall raised £10,000 for the Ambulance Service after the incident.
