Bid to raise vital funds

- Nicola Findlay

Kilbryde Hospice has opened its biggest-ever store in East Kilbride.

The warehouse in College Milton is their fourth charity shop in South Lanarkshire.

Customers can get their hands on goods including furniture, clothing and accessories, homeware, books, CDs and DVDs, electrical items and much more.

There is also a Christmas section for quirky decorations and festive stocking fillers. All proceeds go towards supporting the work of the hospice which recently opened its new in-patient unit.

Retail manager Leanne Henderson said: “It was great to see the local community and our customers who regularly visit our three charity shops coming out and supporting our opening.

“As well as the staff, I’d like to say thank you to all our volunteers who have stuck with us throughout the progression of the warehouse and for all the hard work and effort everyone has put in.”

The hospice also wish to thank companies who have got on board to help at the warehouse, such as teams from the Department of International Development (DFID), Santander, Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), Lloyds Bank and First Direct.

They are also still looking for volunteers to work in the warehouse and encourage folk to pop in and meet the team.

Trading times are Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. The warehouse is open six days a week for small drop-offs from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm.

For larger item drop-offs/ collections, it is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 10am and 4pm to 5pm. Pick-ups and deliveries can be arranged by calling (01355) 201242.

Kilbryde Hospice provides care and support to people in Lanarkshire with life-limiting illnesses and extends this support to their carers and loved ones.
