Jokers reach knockout rounds

-

Cup matches took precedence in the latest outing for East Kilbride Pool League teams – with week four of the group sections serving up some tight contests.

Group One only had two matches, with narrow final frame wins for the Calderwood Inn over the Amigos and Club 72 edging the Murray.

In their first season back in the league, the Calderwood Inn led from start to finish to earn an impressive win over the Amigos.

Despite a spirited Amigos comeback from 6-2, Gary ‘The Milkman’ Faith delivered in the final frame to seal all three points.

The Murray led Club 72 for most of the match, with the highlights being 8-ball finishes from Jason ‘The Artist’ Campbell and Chris ‘The Cobra’ Mowat.

But Club 72 dug in and won the last three frames for an 8-6 win that was scarcely deserved.

With a perfect 4/4 record, the Club 72 boys are well placed for a top seeding from Group One.

Meanwhile, Group Two went to form with wins for The Assassins, The Jokers and league leaders The Top Guns.

The Jokers became the first team to qualify for the knockout stages with a perfect four wins from four. They look nailed on to take the top seeding for the quarter finals.

The full results were: Calderwood 8 Amigos 6; Club 72 8 Murray 6; Hunters 4 Assassins 10; Top Guns 9 Langlands 5; Jokers 11 Cuesters 3. Little stars
