East Kilbride YM were denied a shock victory in the Scottish Amateur Cup on Saturday after they conceded a late equaliser to former champions Colville Park.
Colville Park have appeared in the final five times in the last eight years – winning the trophy two years running in 2015 and 2016 – and presently they sit top of the Central Scottish AFL Premier Division.
But YM acquitted themselves well against a top side to draw 1-1 and take the third round tie to a replay this weekend.
After a cagey start from both sides, YM burst into life as Cammy McCulloch cut in from the left wing and saw his curling shot go narrowly past the upright.
Colville replied with right winger Miller having a shot at goal but YM keeper Fraser Campbell was equal to his effort.
Connor McCann dispossessed a Colville midfielder and made tracks along the right wing.
His cross was headed towards goal by Mikey Carroll and keeper Truesdale did well to turn the ball over the bar for a corner.
Both teams had spell of dominance but the half time whistle arrived with the tie goal less.
Early in the second half Carroll dispossessed the Colville full back and sprinted into the box where he was pulled down.
McCulloch made no mistake with the spot kick to put YM in front.
Colville stormed forward in search of an equaliser but YM defenders were on top of their game until 10 minutes from time when determined running out left saw Colville gain possession and, from a cross into the box, Miller was on the spot to score the equaliser.
Saturday’s replay will be a 3pm kick-off at Hamilton Palace.

Meanwhile, EKYM’s Greater Glasgow Premier League side had a weekend to forget as they lost 3 -0 at Crookston Castle.
