RUN THE BLADES
One of Scotland’s biggest trail runs comes to Eaglesham this weekend.
The unique Run the Blades is held exclusively at Whitelee Wind Farm.
Around 1600 athletes of all levels will take part over the weekend, with a 10K, half marathon and 50K ultramarathon on offer at the respected event.
And it’s sure to be a great spectacle for locals to go and watch.
The record for the 10k run – held on Friday, July 19 this year – was 37 minutes. Can anyone beat the time? Why not head along to find out.
And on the Saturday, the half marathon takes place on from 10am, with the 50k ultramarathon starting off at 9am the same day.

CYCLE STATION
Whitelee Windfarm Bike hire centre will be open during the summer holidays on a Wednesday and Friday, 11am till 4.30pm during the summer holidays with the first few weeks being on a trial basis. If the demand is there then we will open throughout the holidays. The first session will be on Wednesday, July 10. All sessions are still weather permitting.
Our shop and workshop in Newmilns will also be open as usual.
MOD ALL-DAYER
Friday Street’s annual Mod all day event celebrating the 1960’s Mod culture will take place in the Eglinton Arms on September 7.
Afternoon session midday till 5pm (£2 on the door) featuring The 45’s playing live at 3.30pm, also guest DJ’s, scooter competition and ride out around the local area. Vintage clothing and vinyl record stalls. Evening session 7.30pm till midnight with residents and guest DJ spinning across the board Mod tunes all on original vinyl.
WHITELEE STROLLER STRIDERS
The Whitelee Stroller Striders is our popular parent and baby walking group that was started by the Whitelee Countryside Ranger Service in 2011 and has seen over 500 parents and little ones enjoying the fresh air and access opportunities at the windfarm.
The group is a fun and enjoyable way to socialise with new parents and always welcomes new members. You don’t need to pre-book, just meet the other walkers at the start for 10am any Tuesday between March and November and join in the walk.
