YM beat Blantyre

-

East Kilbride YM’s impressive preseason continued on Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Blantyre RGM.

Jordan White opened the scoring early in the first half, netting from James Cameron’s low cross.

Blantyre hit back and YM keeper Fraser Campbell did well to hold on to a 20 yard free kick, but in Blantyre’s next attack they equalised.

On the half hour keeper Campbell’s long kick out was turned wide left by Jordan White to full back Scott Cairns, and when he turned the ball across to Cammy McCulloch, the YM striker stroked home at the near post.

Early in the second half Craig Tocher outstripped the Blantyre defence before laying the ball into the path of James Cameron for a simple tap in.

Tocher was involved in the fourth goal as she fired at goal and when his shot struck the upright, White reacted quickly to turn the ball to James Cameron for an easy finish.

Connor McCann was next on the score sheet, claiming YM’s fifth goal and, with the last kick of the game, Blantyre grabbed a second goal.

The win came after another strong performance in midweek, where two goals from Ross McDonagh and a David Cameron strike gave them a 3-1 win over Possil YM.

This Saturday YM face their toughest pre-season fixture when they play Central Scottish Premier side Harestanes at Ballerup, kick-off 1pm.

Meanwhile, YM’s Greater Glasgow Premier League side defeated Arthurlie Amateurs 3-2 with Murray McClure netting a hat-trick.

YM 35s took the first points of the season off league leaders Eastercraigs in a 2-2 draw at Toryglen on Friday evening. They came from 2-0 down to earn a share of the points thanks to Willie Holmes and Alan Smith.
