Local travel agent stepping in to help

- NICOLA FINDLAY

An East Kilbride travel agent is offering help to those affected by the collapse of Thomas Cook.

Staff at David Urquhart Sky Travel, based in Strathmore House, are offering advice to customers and also assistance in re-booking.

It comes as former Thomas Cook staff took a petition to Westminster demanding answers over the 178-year-old firm’s collapse.

The Government through the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) began one of the biggest repatriation programmes to bring home more 150,000 Thomas Cook customers who were abroad when the firm went under after failing to secure a £200million bail out demanded by its creditors.

The last day of the repatriation by the CAA was Sunday, after which time any Brits aboard have to make their own arrangements to get home.

The News also reported last week on a warning from police and Trading Standards after cruel scammers cold-called asking for bank details for a ‘refund’ on Thomas Cook holidays.

But David Urquhart Travel and David Urquhart Sky Travel are now looking to help those who have had holidays cancelled and others affected by the failure.

They say if you were or know someone who booked a holiday directly with Thomas Cook and need to make alternative arrangements to get in touch.

They are also receiving daily updates from the CAA.

Or pop in to 117 Strathmore House in the town centre.
