Coffee, cake and good company was the order of the day at Claremont Parish Church.

Once again Patricia Leslie and friends hosted their annual get-together for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Over 100 folk turned out this year and raised the fantastic sum of £3012.49 for Macmillan.

Family and friends, regular supporters from Claremont Church, the Red Deer Scottish Country Dancers, the Tuesday Ceilidh Dance Class, Moncrieff Church Scottish Country Dance group and Robert Burns clubs braved the wet weather to attend the annual coffee morning.

As well as her regular helpers, seven girls from Calderglen High School gave up their school holiday to go along and help with setting up the hall, manage the raffle and assist with a fun auction. They also cleared dishes and tidied the hall before they left.

Patricia said: “The girls were polite, enthusiastic and worked hard throughout the morning. Their help was invaluable and much appreciated.”

Patricia was also delighted to welcome regular supporter Linda Fabiani MSP, who spent the morning chatting with the students from Calderglen and the regular friends who all enjoyed coffee, teas and home baking.

Linda also donated a voucher for two to enjoy lunch and a tour of the Scottish Parliament.

Julia Perrie, area fundraising manager for Macmillan, also dropped in for a cuppa and passed on her thanks to everyone who was helping the charity by attending the coffee morning.

She explained that Macmillan provides a variety of support to cancer sufferers and their families and the fundraising from these events helps the charity meet their needs.

Patricia said: “Once again I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to everyone who came along to support my coffee morning. As always, I am very grateful to all who made donations, took part in the raffle and the auction held on the day. I would also like to thank all the helpers who worked tirelessly to make the event such a success.”

Patricia also acknowledged the support given by Amore Beauty, Co-op (St Leonards Square), Crutherland House Hotel, Hunter House, Salon 61, Tikka’s, Va Voom Hair Salon, South Lanarkshire College, Rosebank Garden Centre, Tony Macaroni’s, Countrybake Coffee Shop, the Village Steakhouse and The Crooked Lum.
