Pupil safety top of list for builder

An East Kilbride school has received 50 high visibility vests from a local builder just in time for the clocks going back.
Barratt Homes, currently building in East Kilbride at Merlin Gardens and Thornton View, donated the stand-out safety vests to Kirktonholme Primary School earlier this month.
Linda Wright, headteacher of the school and nursery class said: “Our Junior Road Safety Officers were delighted to receive these high visibility vests on behalf of all of our children, as we have been learning about keeping ourselves safe in winter time.
“We actively promote the health benefits of walking and cycling to school and these vests are an important safety feature of our message of Being Seen. Thank you to Barratt Homes for their donation.”
Estelle Sykes, sales director for Barratt West Scotland, said: “As the dark mornings close in, nothing is more important than the safety of children.
“This is why we were delighted to be able to help this local primary school with a selection of high visibility vests for the children to use if they are walking to and from school.
“Safety is of paramount importance to us at Barratt Homes. We are building nearby at Merlin Gardens and Thornton View and we always ensure we conduct site safety workshops in the local primary school ahead of the building works starting.
“We have previously worked with Long Calderwood Primary School and are thrilled to be able to help yet another primary school in the local area.”
