Campaign group organise workshop

An anti-poverty campaign group are holding a workshop to help those affected have their voices heard. NICOLA FINDLAY

Challenge Poverty East Kilbride, a local voluntary network dedicated to addressing poverty in our town, has organised this informal free event along with a free lunch, children’s activities and a confidenti­al space available.

Individual­s who have experience of poverty, organisati­ons working with people in poverty and people interested in tackling poverty in the town are invited to a‘GET HEARD’workshop upstairs in Greenhills Library on Friday, November 8 from12-2pm (lift available).

Kirsten Robb, network co-ordinator, said:“This event has been set up to help people who have experience of poverty get heard.

“Together we will review the current plans and actions to tackle poverty and identify what is working locally and what needs to change or improve. We will be joined by Kay McIntosh (Tackling Poverty Lead) and Helene Gourichon (Food Policy Officer), both from South Lanarkshir­e Council.”

The organisers would like to thank Greenhills Library staff, South Lanarkshir­e Council and network members for their support in organising the event.
