A Calderwood fundraiser is hoping her latest charity calendar will boost funds for another worthwhile cause.

Jan Robertson has put together a calendar featuring pictures of Rutherglen since 2013 raising more than £4000 for a host of causes with 50p from the sale of each calendar going to charity.

She had hoped to feature snapshots of her home town but was beaten to it.

This year donations will go to Poppy Scotland and calendars are now on sale.

Jan told the News: “This year I have featured the story of a young soldier who was killed in WW1 at the Battle of Somme, aged just 22, from Rutherglen.

“Family very kindly provided me with photos, diary and memorabilia. It’s a very moving story.”

Jan is also working with a Rutherglen residents’ association who restored a run-down local area and renamed it Poppy Lane to raise funds through the sale of wooden poppies.

And she is running a competition for children of upper school age and adults to draw/paint Rutherglen Town Hall with prizes on offer.

The closing date for entries which can be handed to Jan at the Rutherglen Town Hall Christmas market is November 30 from 10am4pm.

Calendars are now on sale at Rutherglen Town Hall, Brian’s Picture Framers in Cambuslang and Jan also has stock at home which she can post or deliver if you are in the East Kilbride and Rutherglen areas.

Copies can also be picked up at the various Christmas markets in the area Jan will be attending – so keep your eyes peeled.

She can be contacted on 01355 265337 or 07853 612 333
