Special reindeer’s day

The air will be ringing with the dulcet tones of choir singers at Strathaven’s Reindeer Day.

There will be plenty of festive spirit when Strathaven Choral Society perform alongside Coalburn Silver Band on Sunday, December 8 at Strathaven Scout and Guide Centre.

The programme for ‘A Spirit of Christmas’ will include a seasonal theme with a new carol composed by the choral society’s Mike Cunningham alongside a Billy Joel piece and some John Williams.

Coalburn Silver Band will play some of their own pieces as well as music with the choir.

Due to the expected popularity of this concert, tickets should be bought in advance – the concert has been a sell out for the last two years.

Doors open at 6pm so go early to ensure a good seat.

Entry is £10 (under 16s are free but must also acquire a ticket) which includes a programme and also a warming drink and mince pies afterwards.

There will also be a fabulous prize draw again, masterminded by president Zorha Leggate.

The choir’s musical director Chris Barr will help lead the performance, with regular accompanist, Razvan Luculescu, joining the group again this year.

Tickets can be obtained from choir members or via the website www.strathavenchoral.com

The choir is always looking for new members and if you can sing (you don’t have to be able to read music but it helps) Strathaven Choral Society will welcome you.

All contact and rehearsal details can be accessed through the website www.strathavenchoral. com or follow them on Twitter @thescs or look for StrathavenChoral-Society on Facebook.
