GRIM BROTHERS

Pair are BOTH snared by paedophile hunters

- FRASER WILSON

This is Christopher and William Kennedy – or as we like to call them, the brothers Grim.

Last week William admitted trying to hook up with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl for sex.

But he had fallen victim to a trap, having been duped by a group of online paedophile hunters.

Earlier in the year, his younger brother Christopher was convicted of the same disgusting predilections.

He admitted sending links to porn sites, lurid sexual images and a picture of himself performing a sex act to someone he believed to be a 14-yearold schoolgirl.

But he too had been caught out by an online vigilante group.

Both horrors were living at their mother’s address in Mount Cameron Drive North at the time of their offending.

This week the News shines a light on their deplorable crimes and the homelife they shared in St Leonards that some say was “mayhem”.

William Kennedy struck up an online relationship with a person he believed to be a girl aged 14.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard how that was in fact an adult member of Child Protectors Scotland posing as a decoy.

Kennedy admitted sending sexual messages and an explicit photograph to ‘Dani’in July last year, attempting to arrange a meeting with the ‘child’ in order to engage in unlawful sexual activity.

In the online sting against Kennedy, he said it was“my fault, a mistake” when he sent a picture of his penis to who he knew to be an underage girl. The Child Protectors Scotland member replied: “How could sending a picture of your penis to a 14-year-old be a mistake?”

Kennedy said:“She turned 15 on Friday, she told me.”

He had sent a message saying:,“I can’t believe I’m going out with a 14-year-old babe. I bet you can’t believe you’re going out with a 34-year-old?” Responding during the snare, Kennedy said:“I didn’t even mean it.”

The member added: “When you arranged to meet you asked, ‘would you let me put my penis up your a**e?’”

Looking distressed Kennedy then sits down on his front step clutching his rib cage, saying “I can’t breathe”.

Fiscal depute Jennifer McLaren told the court how Kennedy sent‘ Dani’a message, urging her to “get rid of those dirty texts I sent you”.

Defence agent Gerry McGuire said his client has a“considerable psychiatric background”.

Deferring sentence until December 18, Sheriff Ray Small called for a criminal justice social work report and a risk assessment. Kennedy, who has no previous convictions, was allowed to remain on bail and was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register with immediate effect.
