Win a Wedding finale

- FRASER WILSON

After 11 weeks, our Win a Wedding competition has come to a close.

The votes have been cast, counted, re-counted and counted again – and now we have a winning couple.

We had five couples vying to win their dream day at the four-star Eglinton Arms Hotel in Eaglesham.

A package for 100 guests full of glamour, glitz, love and romance at one of Greater Glasgow’s leading wedding venues, this was a prize worth thousands of pounds, offering ceremony, reception, drinks package, evening buffet and honeymoon suite.

But more than just a place to tie the knot, our winning couple will have access to an event stylist, florist, leading piper and stationer, all for FREE.

So, enough delay tactics – the winning couple of our 2019 competition is Rachel O’Neill and Callum Fox. And the lovedup couple couldn’t be any happier.

An ecstatic Rachel said: “We can’t thank everyone enough for getting involved with helping us to win our dream wedding.

“The love and support we have received over the last few weeks has been overwhelming. All of our family and friends are absolutely delighted and can’t wait to start celebrating.

“We have family from near and far that will be travelling to share our special day, so we are excited to let them all know.”

Winning the competition will allow

Rachel and Callum to get married earlier than they could have hoped – next December in fact.

Rachel added: “We have always loved the idea of a winter wedding, so The Eglington Arms is the perfect venue.

“Winning will also allow us to save more towards our honeymoon.

“As Callum and I have been together for so long, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t raring and ready to go, and secretly had it all planned in my head.

“We share a love of music which will definitely play an important part of the day. My brother-in-law shreds guitar in an amazing band alongside other family members, so picking the band was an easy choice.”

The cuteness factor will be provided by the flower girls, the couple’s nieces Ivy and Ruby, and a special guest appearance from the third member of their family, Golden Retriever, Penny.

Rachel added: “We can’t wait to become Mr and Mrs Fox. This is the perfect early Christmas present.”

The couple celebrated with a bottle of Pongracz, provided by Distell and presented by events manager at the hotel, Carolyn Stark.

She said: “I’m delighted for Rachel and Callum.

“They’re a wonderful young couple and I look forward to helping them plan their dream wedding.”
