LIB DEMS -
The people of South Lanarkshire voted for Scotland to stay in the UK, and for the UK to stay in the EU. I’m proud to be standing for the only party representing both these views.
We’ve spent three years trying to negotiate a withdrawal agreement, and that’s only the first step of a very long process.
Instead of spending decades wrangling over Brexit, why not revoke Article 50; concentrate on our real problems.
Politics should be kinder. Instead of blaming others for our problems, we should work together to solve them.
The most urgent problem facing humanity is climate change. A global problem requires a multinational solution.
The European Union has proposed allocating a quarter of its budget to fighting climate change. Let’s join them in that fight.
The Liberal Democrats have an achievable plan to fight climate change, including the largest tree-planting programme in UK history, with the aim of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.
Economic forecasts suggest that staying in the EU will provide a £50 billion boost to the economy. Let’s use that to repair deep-rooted problems.
My ambition is to help build a society that works for everyone.
Where parents have better childcare options, where multinational companies pay their fair share in taxes, and there is a better social safety net for people who find themselves in hard times.
My worst fear is a UK outside the EU, negotiating a trade deal with the US from a weak position, which then sees our NHS sold off and our food standards ripped up.
Having lived my whole life in East Kilbride, I will always fight for what’s best for the town.
And that’s not Brexit or independence, both of which risk the economy our jobs depend upon.
