Have your say

- NICOLA FINDLAY

East Kilbride tenants are being invited to have their say on rent rates at the Civic Centre later this month.

South Lanarkshire Council tenants are being asked to give their views on the level of rent proposed for 2020/21.

Two years ago the council agreed to keep rent levels for a longer period, with the introduction of a three-year rent strategy.

That came with a commitment to review the rates annually – SLC are proposing to keep the current three year agreement.

That would mean the rent level for 2020/21 would increase by 3.95 per cent. Now tenants can let the council know their thoughts on this, as well as the proposed spending and investment priorities for the year ahead.

Annette Finnan, head of housing services, said:“It is hugely important that decisions on the level of rent are made in consultation with our tenants.

“This year provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the key influences and the future investment priorities which impact on the level of rent income required.

“It is vital that tenants get involved and take the opportunity to come along to the events to give their views.”

Tenants are asked to attend at the council chambers in the Civic Centre on Andrew Street at 3pm on Wednesday, November 27

Consultation will end on December 10, with tenants welcome to attend a meeting at the Town House on Cadzow Street, Hamilton, on that date.
